Volunteers help power the nonprofit sector and are a finite resource.

So how do the volunteer coordinators behind the scenes create spaces to engage both the individual and the organization in a meaningful and measurable way without burning out?

The Learning Center of the Community Foundation of Elkhart County offers free training for those working with Elkhart County nonprofits or nonprofits serving Elkhart County. This workshop is also free for volunteer managers, CEOs or others who work in the for-profit sector helping manage volunteers, particularly our Acts of Service partners.

This session will explore the many roles of volunteer managers — from trainer to facilitator, to energizer and evaluator — and how to not only wear many hats but also wear them well. This session will include research-driven and participant-driven discussion on:

  • The evolving role of volunteer service and volunteer managers in 2023.
  • Setting volunteers up for success from the beginning- recruitment, roles, recognition, and retention strategies across the life cycle of a volunteer.
  • Examples of service synergies in the Elkhart County community.
