John G. Blakesley Mathematical Excellence Scholarship for 8th Grader

Thanks to the generosity of John G. Blakesley, the Community Foundation is proud to offer a 4-year scholarship to an Elkhart County graduating 8th grade student, to be applied towards 4-years of higher education at an accredited college following the student’s high school graduation.

Timeline

Each applying student will complete the application and return it to their respective Middle School Counselor. The school counselor and math teacher(s) at each school will then review the completed applications from which they may select one nominee. Original applications for the top nominee will then be delivered to the Community Foundation.

 

The Community Foundation Scholarship Committee will review the nominee applications and select one winner. The winner of the John G. Blakesley Mathematical Excellence Scholarship will be awarded $1,250 a year for each of four years for a total award of $5,000. A new winner will be selected each year. As the fund increases, so may the number and amount of future awards.

January 1, 2017 Application available
March 1, 2017 Application due to student’s school
March 29, 2017 Each school will report its top nominee to the Community Foundation.
May 12, 2017 The Community Foundation will notify scholarship recipient.

To Apply

The John G. Blakesley Mathematical Excellence for 8th Graders scholarship application is available for 2017. Applications are due to the student’s school by Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
