Community Foundation of Elkhart County awards Career Pathways grant

Community Foundation invests $692,594 in three education efforts

ELKHART, Indiana – The Community Foundation of Elkhart County’s Board of Directors approved $692,594 of new and multi-year grants to three nonprofits who are key to the education and development of career pathways in Elkhart County.

The Career Pathways committee of the foundation recommended awarding a multi-year grant to Goshen College and single-year grants to ETHOS and Horizon Education Alliance. The board approved the grants at its December meeting.

“These grants to ETHOS, Goshen College and Horizon Education Alliance will enhance the ways people in our community can access education,” said Candy Yoder, Chief Program Officer. “These organizations are key in building pathways for the residents of Elkhart County as they meet the demands of a global economy.”

The grants awarded are:

  • ETHOS, $170,000, STEM Activation Education and Operational Support
  • Goshen College, $159,700 in FY 21 and $162,894 in FY 22, Expanding Inclusive Education in Elkhart County
  • Horizon Educational Alliance, $200,000, Operational Support

Grant requests are reviewed by staff and volunteer committees composed of a diverse range of community members who are engaged with their respective sectors and make every effort to be aware of emerging and ongoing initiatives. Staff members can make decisions on grants of $25,000 or less and the board of the Community Foundation of Elkhart County approves all grants.
